<Involuntary Reaction>

Buddhism consistently teaches that there is almost nothing to be gained through abstractions and philosophical concepts.
This is why each attempt that to treat emptiness (#emptiness, #suññata) as a concept always dramatically encounters 'misalignment'.

Emptiness (#emptiness, #suññata) teaches us that the more we understand in detail all these things that we believe constitute ‘I AM’ using almost all sensory methods and reasons, the more our confidence in something that can be identified as ‘me’ gradually disappears.

<Involuntary Reaction> is based on photos taken in 2018, and in 2022,

the photos were made into a video with music (sound).

Whether viewing a photo or a video, there is a very high possibility that the viewer looking at this work will experience being unable to control their own eye movements while viewing the work. This is also the second work to show that the claim that my senses are mine is, upon closer inspection, quite thin.

The music (sound) used in the video was also used as house music for a performance called <The Sense of Water>, produced in collaboration with Music Group SE:UM and artist LEE Min-jeong, held at the Incheon Art Platform Building C performance hall in 2022.
